Marion has broad experience in social work and community development. Marion also has formal education and training include a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from the University of Calgary; Community Development certification through Tamarack Institute and ABCD Institute; Trauma-informed Practice training through the Crisis & Trauma Resource Institute; and Story Circle Model of Education instruction by Vera Goodman. She has skills in facilitation, community assessment, problem solving, research and report writing have been honed over time.
She has also worked in the area of diversity in the immigrant-serving sector with Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS) for over 15 years, specializing in community development, following principles of Asset Based Community Development.
Additionally Marion has articipated (as part of an implementation team) in two Story Circle pilot projects to test the model of education: The first was in Gambella, Ethiopia in 2019, and the second was in Kasumbalesa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in early 2020.
Her board responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations, and working with Story Circle Model facilitators, on the ground.
